Bark for Life – Humber Valley

Bark for Life – Humber Valley

fark for life

August 13, 2017 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sir Richard Squires Building, Corner Brook

Bark For Life is a unique fundraising event for dogs and their owners to come together to help fight cancer. Also, Bark For Life is a time for people to celebrate their canine companions while contributing to the Canadian Cancer Society’s efforts to eradicate cancer and ease the burden for individuals facing the disease.

For many cancer survivors, their canine companions provided unconditional love, joy, security, and compassion during their cancer journey. For them, Bark For Life is an opportunity to celebrate their own victory against the disease, acknowledge their dog’s role in their life, and raise funds to fight back against cancer.

This year’s event will feature a walk through the park, horseback riding, RCMP and RNC K9 unit demonstrations, paw painting, kissing booth, costume award, face painting, nonprofit rescues, BBQ, friendship, and FUN! Each registered dog and owner will be asked to bring an item to be donated to the SPCA.

Registration Information:

$10 registration (plus you get a fun bandanna for your pooch). Register in person at the Cancer Society’s office in Suite 304 of the CIBC building on Main Street, Corner Brook or call the office at 634-6542. Online registration coming soon.

A couple of months ago, an elderly lady in Corner Brook lost her home to a house fire and several of her beloved pets lost their lives. Unfortunately, now she has to part with her remaining four dogs, the ones that survived the fire. This is a very difficult decision for the owner. She loves her pets dearly and they are her babies. So now all her dogs need new homes asap.

Please consider taking one of these little dogs into your home. For more information please call 388-1973.

A family from Corner Brook is moving across the country and are hoping to find a temporary foster home for their 2 male cats (brothers). Fostering will be for about a year while the family finds a permanent home and get settled.

The cats are approximately 8 years old, one is named PomPom, the other is Tiger. Both are neutered and front declawed. They’re indoor cats and are healthy with no medications or physical issues. Please contact 639-8734 or Sd.may@nl.rogers.com if you are able to foster PomPom and Tiger or if you have any questions.

We will not be admitting any owner-surrendered cats at this time as we have reached our capacity of cats at the shelter.

As per our policy set by the Board of Directors, our priority is to take in animals seized by police. Our second priority is to take in stray animals. If we have space available after these community needs have been met, we may then accept pets being surrendered by their families.

if you are in need of rehoming a cat, we suggest that you put a request on classifieds and we can help spread the word by sharing your post.
